IRON ORE

In the Krasnoyarsk territory in the first centuries of our era developed metallurgy. Was known to the primitive processing of iron ore.

The share of Krasnoyarsk territory in the reserves of iron ore in Russia is 2%, and in its production 3%. The region does not have its metallurgical production, but is a supplier of ore to Novokuznetsk combine in the Kemerovo region. More than 65% of the concentrate is imported to the plant from the European part of Russia, Northern Kazakhstan and Irkutsk region, although it is possible to provide local deposits. As of 01.01.2001, the reserves and resources of the iron Fund in the Krasnoyarsk territory amount to 734700 million tons and are located in V-Sayan, Sredne-Angarsk, N. Tunguska and Angaro-Pitsky iron ore regions. They are enclosed in 22 fields. Total reserves of iron ores in the region in 1982 were estimated at 3.3 billion tons, including about 1.9 billion tons of magnetite ores.

In Krasnoyarsk region operates two iron miners of the mine: irbinskiy and Krasnokamensk and one pig metallurgical plant in Krasnoyarsk "sibelectrostal".

   Iron-ore province:
   1. The Altai-Sayan covers the territory of East and West Sayan, Kuznetsk Alatau. Here is operated Irbinskiy Krasnokamensk group of deposits, which are magnetite ore mineral and raw material base for metallurgical plants in Western Siberia. Here is Lisansky group Titano-magnetite deposits. Krasnokamenskoe ore Department works open pit Ore Cascade, Single and Margoz, built mine "Single" for the transition to underground mining. Irbinskiy mining is developing the open method Irbinskiy and Then Deposit. In 2000, mined 2071,9 thousand tons of raw ore.

   2. Angara province in the territory of the region is represented by its Western part

with deposits Tagar, Snow, Fir, Aginskoe (magnetite ore) total ore reserves 450 million tons, with average iron content of 31.7%.

  3. The Angara-Yenisei province covers the Yenisei ridge, Central and Western part of the Siberian platform in the pool R. R. N. and Podkamennaya Tunguska. Stands of the Angara-Pitsky iron ore district hematite ore with estimated resources of 10-12 billion tonnes deposits of the Nizhne-Angarskaya (reserves of 117 million tons, the iron content of 40.4%), Simbirskoe (reserves of 238 million tonnes, the iron content of 39.4%), Gorongosa (reserves 1145,9 million tons, the iron content of 35.6%). Reserves of deposits are large, but the ore is difficult to enrich, research is not complete.

MANGANESE ORE

Manganese in Russia is a critical raw material of strategic importance. The main consumers of manganese: aviation, cosmonautics, mechanical engineering.
On the Krasnoyarsk territory there are four manganese area: Gorohovskaya (Porozhinskoe field), the taiga in the North-Yenisei district, Mazul-Tarutino in the Achinsk district and Sabinsky in the area of Kuragino. The most studied and significant manganese-ore potential Porozhinskoe field.

TITANIUM

The main titanium product is titanium pigment dioxide, which accounts for more than 90% of the production of titanium materials. Krasnoyarsk region has a significant resource base of titanium. Deposits of titanium are found in the East Sayan mountains (Lisansky group), on the Siberian platform (Madalinska) and Maimecha-Kotui province. Balance reserves of titanium dioxide of 57.8 million tonnes.

More studied is Limanskoe field in the East Sayan. The Deposit revealed 12 ore bodies represented by titanium-magnetite and ilmenite ores. Ores are complex and can be used in metalurgical production with associated extraction of titanium. The balance sheet reserves of titanium dioxide in category a+B + C1-4.4 million tons, off-balance -3.2 million tons.

The most perspective for industrial development of placer deposits of titanium is Madalinski manifestation on the right Bank of the Angara river, on the watershed of the rivers of Noida, Incani and Madalena.  It was revealed in 1963 when carrying out prospecting for bauxite.  Titanium-bearing Sands are confined to loose deposits of Miocene and Oligocene age, hollow lying on the blurred surface of the Paleozoic Foundation. Ore-bearing horizon is composed of multi-grain quartz-feldspar Sands with capacity from 1 to 32 m. Ore minerals are represented by ilmenite and leucoxene, concentrated in natural concentrates in the form of low-power lenticular layers.Inferred resources amount to 5.7 million tons with an average content of 40-60 kg/ cubic m. the Area of development of titanium magnetite Sands of about 40 km2.

In the Maimecha-Kotui province interest Gulinski array, the forecast resources of titanium dioxide amounts to 9 million tons when the content of TiO2 – 5,92%.
